ProErgo+ Monthly Support

Your ‘on call’ expert

Support when you need it

This service is designed for existing clients who want to keep the ball rolling, or new clients who want to see how we work together without committing to a large-scale project.

Think of it as a ‘phone a friend’ service for your business. You get access to 8 hours of professional support every month to help you stay on top of your ‘to do list’ at each stage of the risk management cycle, from initial identification, risk assessment, considering effective controls, reviewing controls, and annual monitoring.

We understand that smaller teams or businesses might not require 8 hours of support, so we also offer a 4-hour monthly option. These hours are yours to use however you need—whether it is some advice on where to start, support with risk assessments, or training.

Maintaining progress should not be the hardest part of health and safety.

We know how it goes. You start with every intention to tackle musculoskeletal disorders, but day-to-day operations take over. Task analyses sit half-finished and reviews get pushed to next month. Before you know it, you are back to reacting to injuries instead of stopping them before they start.

Our mission is to reduce musculoskeletal disorders and improve wellbeing across Aotearoa. We cannot do that effectively if we show up for a few days onsite, complete a project and handover the report, and then walk away. Real change happens through consistent, small improvements to the work system.

How we can support you through the risk management cycle

Our partnership ensures you have professional ergonomics expertise on hand to navigate each stage of the risk management process. We work together to identify musculoskeletal risk factors and develop evidence-based solutions that actually fit your specific work environment.

Below are some examples of how you can use your time aligned to the risk management cycle.

Step 1. Identify high-risk tasks

We help you cut through the noise to find where your risks actually are. Instead of guessing we use a systematic approach to pinpoint the tasks that need your attention most.

  • We can analyse your injury claims data or wearable data and suggest where to focus your resources next.

  • We can lead task force sessions to identify risks or run body mapping workshops. These participatory sessions help us identify where people experience pain or discomfort and which specific tasks contribute to the root cause.

Note: Body Mapping Workshops are also available as a standalone service.

  • We can administer remote digital discomfort surveys to help you understand the prevalence and severity of pain your teams experience. You will receive a concise report to help guide your next steps.

Note: Digital Discomfort Surveys are also available as a standalone service.

  • We can teach you how to use screening tools or complete them alongside your teams. This builds their skills in identifying which tasks need further investigation.

  • We partner with you to plan your next steps based on your available time and budget, ensuring you keep the momentum towards your goals.

Step 2. Assess the risks

Once we know where the high-risk tasks are, we need to understand exactly what is making them risky. We look beyond the obvious to see how the work is actually being done.

  • We can review your risk assessments or complete new ones alongside your teams. This helps us identify key risk factors and suggest practical next steps for controls.

  • Physical risk is often only half the story. We look at the full range of contributing risks, including psychosocial risks, to give you a clear picture of your work system.

  • By gathering this detailed information, we help you develop a robust plan to control risks based on actual evidence rather than assumptions.

  • During the assessment process, we explain the principles behind what we are seeing. This helps your team build their own internal capability for future reviews. Alternatively we can run training sessions to teach you how to use the risk assessment tools.

Step 3. Control the risks

Once we have a clear picture of the risks, we work with you to find the best way to eliminate or minimise them. We focus on finding practical, effective solutions that work for your specific business.

  • We lead your teams through sessions to tackle the high-risk tasks identified earlier. We then collate these ideas and research other possible solutions for you to consider.

  • We use the hierarchy of controls to identify which changes are likely to be most effective. This includes making short-term wins and long-term suggestions for trialling or implementing bigger changes.

  • We help you build a solid action plan based on your priorities. We can also support your teams with project management to ensure the project does not lose momentum.

  • We provide a second set of eyes on proposed new equipment, workplace layouts, or tools. It is much cheaper to design out risk through early involvement rather than retrofitting later.

  • We can review your current procedures or training material to ensure they are practical and follow best practice. Alternatively, we can partner with you to develop custom guides tailored specifically to your organisation.

Step 4. Review the controls

This stage is about closing the loop. We look at the controls we implemented to see if they have eliminated or reduced the exposure to the musculoskeletal risk factors.

  • We work with you to review and update your action plans based on how things are actually going. If you need support, we can assist with project management to make sure the review stage occurs and the project progresses.

  • We use the ProErgo+ Review Checklists at specific intervals after a control has been introduced. This provides you with clear evidence of whether the control is working or if you need to look at alternative solutions.

Step 5. Annual monitoring

This final stage ensures your risk management stays relevant and effective as your business evolves. We help you look back at the year that was and plan for the one ahead.

  • We can facilitate annual sessions with task forces to understand current issues, successes, and opportunities for improvement. We can also carry out annual body mapping sessions to see it there has been an improvement in your team’s experience of pain or discomfort.

  • We can administer remote digital discomfort surveys and provide you with a short report outlining the key findings. This shows clearly if there has been improvement from the previous year.

Note: Digital Discomfort Surveys are also available as a standalone service.

  • We can use our specially designed Annual Musculoskeletal Warrant of Fitness Check to help you identify what you are doing well and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Flexible support that fits your business

The five steps above show how we can manage risks from start to finish, but we know you might only need help with one particular area. You do not have to follow the full cycle to work with us.

The ProErgo+ Partnership is designed to be adaptable. You can follow the steps in order, or you can use your monthly hours to tackle a specific project that has been sitting on the corner of your desk for too long

Other ways we can support you

  • We can help you translate risk data into a clear business case that help senior leaders understand the value of addressing musculokeletal health.

  • We can provide targeted sessions for your Health and Safety Representatives to help them understand the work system factors that contribute to discomfort, pain, or injury.

  • When an injury occurs, we provide a specialist view to help understand the work system factors that contributed to the event.

  • We can review your current training to see if it the material is aligned with best practice.

  • We can partner with you to develop internal standards or guides so that good practice is built into your business.

No surprises, just support

Because this is a partnership, you do not need a new proposal every time a small task pops up. These are just examples of how we can help. If you have something else on your mind that needs an ergonomics and human factors perspective, please get in touch. You simply let us know what your priorities are for the month and we get to work. It is about providing high-quality support that improves worker wellbeing and keeps your business moving forward.

How the partnership works

The practical details to help you understand how we can work together.

  • You can use your monthly hours for any task that needs an ergonomics or human factors lens. We offer both an 8-hour and a 4-hour monthly partnership to suit the size and needs of your business.

We have included a list of examples further up this page to give you some ideas, ranging from facilitated sessions, incident investigations, to policy and training reviews.

Essentially, we provide the extra technical capacity when your team is stretched thin. Whether it is a quick check of a new piece of equipment or helping you build a business case for senior leaders, you just let us know what your priorities are for the month and we get to work.

For example, one month you might want us to facilitate a couple of onsite body mapping sessions and provide you with a summary report to help identify musculoskeletal risks and tasks. Another month you might want your policies reviewed for updates while leaving time for other ad-hoc enquiries or incident investigations, or to deliver some training to your Health and Safety teams or HSRs. You have the flexibility over how you use the time available.

  • We believe in keeping things simple and transparent. When you partner with us, you can expect clear, honest communication and a focus on practical solutions.

We will agree on specific deliverables at the start of each project or month so you know exactly what you are getting. You can expect us to abide by professional standards and work with integrity at all times. To give you peace of mind, we maintain up-to-date professional registrations and insurance cover.

In return, we ask for timely access to your team and information so we can provide the best possible support workforce wellbeing.

  • Absolutely. While we are based in Christchurch, we are dedicated to providing ergonomics support to businesses and industry groups across all of New Zealand. Distance is not a barrier to receiving expert advice or technical capacity when you need it.

We can effectively manage most tasks through remote collaboration. We will try and be flexible, but for some activities such as 'facilitated worker sessions’ or ‘in-house training’, in-person is usually best.

Remote work allows for faster response times and removes travel costs, making it a very efficient way to access specialist knowledge. Whether it is a quick video call to answer a question, support you with an incident investigation, carry out a procurement review of a specific piece of equipment, or complete a quick review or assessment of a work task from your video footage, we can act as a seamless extension of your team regardless of your location.

Our goal is to improve workers’ wellbeing and help you meet your health and safety obligations no matter where in New Zealand you are located.

  • If you are a smaller business, we offer a 4-hour monthly partnership as an alternative to the full 8-hour option.

You still have full flexibility in how you decide to use this time. It could be for general advice on your systems for managing musculoskeletal risks, training and workshops, body mapping, or support with a specific task that has been causing concern. Either way, we will provide you with ongoing, trustworthy and professional support without the overhead of a large-scale project. It is a highly effective way to start managing your musculoskeletal risks without overcomplicating the process.

  • We want to make sure you get the support you need when you need it. We typically schedule our monthly sessions in advance to ensure consistency, but we keep space in the diary for those urgent queries that pop up. How you allocate your time is entirely up to you.

We aim to be a seamless extension of your team. Whether you select the 8-hour or 4-hour partnership, we typically dedicate a portion of that time for making progress on a primary project or activity. But if you want to leave room for unplanned tasks or questions that come up, we can accommodate that too.

To book your time, just send an email and let us know what you want us to work on during the month. We will check our availability and get back in touch with you to confirm the details.

  • The 8-hour monthly allocation is designed to keep your risk management moving forward. Because we reserve this time specifically for your business, any hours not used within the calendar month do not automatically carry over. This helps us both stay committed to making regular progress on your goals.

But, we know that some months are busier than others or unexpected delays arise. To provide a bit of flexibility, you can carry over a portion of unused time into the following month:

    • 8-hour partnership: Carry over up to 4 hours to the following month.

    • 4-hour partnership: Carry over up to 2 hours to the following month.

  • The ProErgo+ Partnership provides you with dedicated ergonomics and human factors support with two options available to suit your business size and needs:

    • 8-hour Partnership: $1730+GST per month. This rate is discounted by 10% compared to our standard hourly rate to recognise your commitment to long-term musculoskeletal risk management.

    • 4-hour Partnership. $920+GST per month. This is an ideal entry point for smaller businesses or specific short term projects and includes a small discount on our standard rate.

These flat fees are payable in advance at the start of each month. Charging monthly keeps things simple and avoids the need for constant invoicing for every phone call or small piece of ad-hoc work. It means you can reach out for advice when you need it without worrying about a separate bill for every interaction.

Any additional hours requested beyond your monthly bucket are billed at our standard hourly rate.

  • We include travel within a 30km radius of our base in Rolleston. For sites further afield or across the rest of the country, we will agree on travel costs and expenses with you beforehand. We want to keep things fair and transparent so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives.

  • We want this to be a partnership that works for both of us, so we do not have long-term lock-in contracts.

There is an initial 3 month commitment to get the momentum started, and after that, the partnership rolls over on a month-by-month basis.

If your business needs change, you can cancel the partnership with 30 days' notice in writing. Likewise, if our circumstances change, we will provide you with the same 30 days’ notice. This gives us both time to wrap up any current projects and ensure a smooth hand-over of any data or reports.
